Copper metal tile - the applications

Copper metal tiles are used for floors, backsplashes, walls, and in some cases - roofing too. Copper tiles are also used as decorative tiles. The longevity of copper is legendary - the lifetime of copper metal tiles is measured in hundreds of years, and some people say copper products used in a structure outlast the structure itself.

Copper has excellent resistance to corrosion, fire and severe weather conditions. It requires little maintenance, and can last a lifetime.

Copper turns into its patina-green colour over a period of 20 - 25 years, after passing through shades of bronze and green. This process enhances the appearance of copper and protects copper from further oxidation. Copper retains its colour when an acrylic layer is applied.

But that's not all ...

A recent study found that the highly toxic E. coli O157:H7 strain of bacteria survive only for a few hours on copper metal tiles compared to several days on stainless steel tiles ...

Which does imply that using copper may reduce the risks of E. coli O157:H7 outbreaks. Using copper utensils for cooking, and copper tiles more extensively in the kitchen may be a very wise choice.

And what this means is that copper metal tiles, in addition to having excellent resistance to corrosion, high durability, low maintenance costs, is also good for your health.
