Cork floor covering - the advantages
Cork floor coverings are also warm underneath your feet, and suppress noise. Cork is also a natural product that is free from harmful chemicals.
Due to the excellent properties of cork, cork floors are fairly extensively used in flooring. Cork floors are used in schools, homes, hospitals, hotels, offices and more.
Cork floor coverings blend easily with furniture and other decor as they come in a variety of shades - from honey hues, to red, chocolate, green and black.
Cork floor care
As with any wood flooring, cork floor coverings need to be maintained appropriately for longer life. Wood floorings are hygroscopic - they absorb moisture from the air and expand when humidity is high, and release moisture and shrink in drier conditions. Maintaining a constant level of humidity may help reduce such effects.
Also, water and liquids should not be allowed to stand on cork floors - all spills should be immediately cleaned.
Using mats at entrances may help prevent dirt from getting onto the cork floor. Dirt and sand particles can act as abrasives and damage wooden floors. The floor will have to be cleaned regularly to keep off dirt from the
floor.
