Grout for vinyl floor tiles - How you can give a great finish to floors
But before you proceed ...
Make sure your vinyl flooring does not contain asbestos.
Flooring with asbestos should not be sanded, as asbestos fibers can get airborne by sanding. If you are unsure you might want to submit a sample of your flooring to laboratory analysis to determine whether your flooring does indeed contain asbestos.
Here's how to use grout on your flooring
Mix grout such that it is creamy and easy to spread. You may want to use a rubber grout float to spread the grout onto the tile surface.
Let the grout set for about 20 minutes and then wipe the surface with a damp sponge. Once the grout has hardened, you might wipe the haze off and the tiles may be buffed with a dry cloth.
Also, you might have to use a sealer on the grout a week or ten days after the application ( for new grout ) to keep the surface clean. Please see the manufacturer's instructions for the sealer product and other details.
A new flooring product - Stainproof Grout
Grouts are difficult to clean, and you might have to use a scrub brush and a bleach to clean. Sealing the grout after installation does help to make it stain resistant, but in many cases, the sealing may not get done.
TrafficMaster Stainproof Grout, a latex-based premixed grout, resists most common stains like coffee and more, can be applied both to new installations and to existing grout lines that may be stained or broken.
Though the surface of this latex-based grout may become discolored, the stains can be removed relatively easily.
