Wood grade
Hardwood flooring boards can be graded into First, Second and Third.
· First: Minimal visible defects and discoloration, with only minor imperfections.
· Second: May contain slight visible imperfections or minor color variations.
· Third: Contains color variations and knots. Sometimes classified as "rustic" wood.
Wood styles
There are three common styles of hardwood flooring boards:
· Parquets: Small wood pieces.
· Strips: Long, linear cuts of wood from 1.5" to 2.5" wide.
· Planks: Long pieces of wood from 3" to 8" wide.
In particular, parquets are ideal if you want to create geometrical designs, whilst strips can be used to create an illusion of a larger room.
