Metal wall tile - why use metal tiles ?

Metal wall tiles, most commonly used in kitchen backsplashes, protect the kitchen walls from cooking sputters and water. But that's not their only advantage - they reflect the hues of other design elements in the kitchen and blend in like no other design element can while retaining their uniqueness.

Metal tiles are very easy to install, and easier to maintain. They have none of the problems other materials like hardwood have, yet are beautiful and elegant.

Most commonly used metal wall tiles

Stainless steel, copper and brass tiles are the most commonly used metal tiles. Each has a distinct appearance and each appeals to people with different tastes and requirements. But one question you might want to ask before selecting a type of metal tile for your wall is ...
Do any of these metals have a distinct advantage over the others ?

You bet ! According to a recent study, the highly toxic E. Coli O157:H7 strain of bacteria survive for relatively longer periods of time ( measured in days ) on stainless steel and brass than on copper ( a few hours only ).

The details of the study may be seen at http://www.cda.org.uk/news/Press%20Releases/PR543.htm

This does imply that using copper extensively in the kitchen might be effective in preventing the spread of E. Coli O157:H7.

Apart from backsplashes, decorative metal tiles are also used on floors and as wall panels.
