Most common stone tiles
The most common stone tiles and some of their applications are :
Marble - Used mostly in flooring, fireplaces and areas around baths or showers.
Granite - Flooring, kitchens and fireplaces.
Limestone - Flooring, fireplaces.
Travertine - Flooring. fireplaces.
Quartz-based - Flooring, fireplaces.
Slate - Flooring, fireplaces.
Cleaning stone tiles
Stone tiles must be properly sealed. The sealer to be used depends on whether the stone is natural, honed or polished, the density and the porosity of the stone. To choose the right product for your stone, please follow the manufacturer's recommendations.
Using acidic cleaners is not recommended for most stone floors. Stones like marble, sandstone and travertine can get eroded if acidic cleaners are used on them.
pH balanced cleaners and soapless detergents are recommended for daily cleaning. The stone surface and the grout will have to be cleaned thoroughly to remove traces of the cleaner.
